Central Coast Wedding Photography

Central coast wedding photography like anything always has subtle challenges but this time around it gave us our largest obstacle ever and it had nothing to do with professional photography.

We are basically going to start by giving ourselves a wrap and say woo-hoo! We fortunately managed to avoid an eleven kilometre long traffic jam on the F3 on our way to this particular wedding, some truck had lost its load heading south and a contra-flow was subsequently put in effect. Our options were to divert through Gosford like everyone else or trust in our local knowledge (the mother-in-law lives in the area) and use Dog Trap Road, at best a one lane little known track that exits at Ourimbah. In short Dog Trap Road worked and instead of a two-hour delay it became a five-minute detour and thankfully we were right on time as opposed to missing the preparation and ceremony completely. We were more than a little nervous leaving Sydney knowing what was ahead of us so our relief at not missing anything is an immeasurable phenomenon!

As far as the actual wedding day itself went at 1pm we dropped in to capture the final stages of Tracey’s preparations before wandering down to the edge of Lake Macquarie to meet up with Lee and photograph him welcoming the guests. Tracey & Lee tied the knot at 2pm at Point Wolstoncroft on the waters edge looking north east over the picturesque Lake Macquarie, thankfully the rain that had been coming and going all day left us alone (for the time being).

At the conclusion of the ceremony we captured plenty of images of the bride & groom mingling with their guests before capturing a group shot of absolutely everyone. We then jumped in the cars and headed for the coast, specifically Red Ochre Beach.

On the fifteen-minute drive to the beach the windscreen wipers could not operate fast enough and I’m sure I was not the only one wondering if our efforts were going to be worthwhile. In short the beach was a wind tunnel however Tracey and Lee thought Frazer Beach around the way would be a lot more sheltered and so we made our way there. Perfect basically, at least from a wedding photographer’s perspective, incredibly misty drizzle, dark stormy cloud out to sea on the horizon, winds that would be lucky to hold up a kite and we had a couple keen to ignore the elements and get involved. Brilliant!

We captured wedding photographs here until the heavy rain kicked in again after maybe forty-five minutes and on our way back to Point Wolstoncroft we took the opportunity to use the gum trees and wooded areas to add some variety to our central coast wedding photography.

Tracey & Lee were formally announced at 6pm into their reception also been held at Point Wolstoncroft and had the speeches, cutting of the cake and bridal waltz all wrapped up by 7pm. For the next three hours or so among a lot of candid images of the guests enjoying their meals and drinks we whisked Tracey & Lee away for a handful of sunset shots on a wharf on the edge of Lake Macquarie.

There are countless venues a bride and groom can choose to capture their central coast wedding photographybut this time round was a first for us at Point Wolstoncroft and we thank Tracey & Lee for choosing such a fabulous location on top of the fantastic opportunities that were already available in and around the Lake Macquarie area (ie: Frazer Beach).

So mix these fantastic locations with fun and enthusiastic people and you have a wedding day that we would love to photograph again and again. Thank-you for the great day Tracey & Lee and we look forward to showing you the five-hundred plus other images we captured for you.

Email sent 2 April, 2011: Hi Dale, Lee and I just looked at the photos. So far I’m impressed and thoroughly ecstatic about them. We are extremely excited to see the rest. We are leaving for our honeymoon on tuesday and we look forward to seeing the rest. Thanks heaps (you made my day). Tracey and Lee.
