Wedding FAQ

As wedding photography and film/video is not something a person shops for every second week, understandably some couples have a lot of questions with regards to how it all works.

We have answered the more common questions here, however if you have a query with regards to something not talked about please call the studio on 02 9482 4838 or email us at info@www.dcimages.com.au as we are more than happy to answer your question(s).

How many photographers do you have?

This also answers the question of “who will be our photographer?” We have regularly provided multiple professional photographers however unless otherwise arranged Dale, the owner of DC Images will be your photographer.

Do you supply professional film/videography services?

Sure do. Check out our Wedding Photography & Film page for more information.

How big is the team you work with?

This will depend on your wedding plans but generally speaking on the day it would be one photographer and/or one videographer and possibly one assistant.

Will you hold a wedding date while we decide?

Our services work on a first in, first served basis and we have bookings made a year or more in advance. That being said, for any couple who come in to see us at the studio we will try to contact them should another couple ask about their wedding date. In other words, we try to offer you first dibs wherever we can.

How much time should we allow for planning the wedding photography?

Including your first studio visit as well as a face-to-face chat in the lead up to the wedding day (not to mention anything else you might need our help with) we are looking at two-hours (plus) but there is no set or X-amount of time really, come past the studio for a coffee and a chat and we will spend as much time chatting things through as you need.

Are you insured?

Absolutely, among other insurance policies we have public liability insurance for ten-million dollars.

What digital format do you provide us with?

Through various camera formats we always capture RAW files and then provide couples with fully perfected and genuine high resolution JPEG files.

How much time should we allow for location/bridal party photographs?

The more time you spend doing anything on your wedding day the more opportunities you create, it really is that simple. Traditionally for photos of the loved-up couple and their bridal party one-hour plus is a good starting point, whether in one go or collectively spread across the day. Remember to allow for travel time as well.

How many photographs do you take/do we get?

This will depend entirely upon the day you have planned and the amount of time we are there snapping away. Always remember that the idea is quality not quantity and we will always look to provide as much variety as possible rather than simply capture variations of the same backdrop. In short, there is no set amount/limit, we capture as many photographs as is required to tell the whole story.

Do we get every single photo that you take on the day?

Generally yes, we do delete the odd image on the day where we may have tested the exposure in a difficult lighting environment or when a person has clearly blinked in the shot.

Do you include high resolution digital files of every photograph in our package?

Yes, you receive fully prepared, retouched and genuine high resolution 300dpi JPEGs on USB. Most importantly, these are all produced in-house and not sent overseas to the cheapest bidder to work on. Additionally, there is no copyright logo placed over any image.

Do you store/archive the digital files?

Yes. Every digital file/photograph we ever take is archived onto external hard-drives and these are stored both on and off site.

Do you include prints of all the images in our package?

We can through the likes of a custom-printed proof album but to be honest most of our couples prefer to get their high-resolution images on USB whilst utilising our online galleries (for friends and family to view every one of your wedding photographs) and then we look to our hand-crafted albums and custom made artworks.

Do you offer pre-wedding photography?

Yes and as always your photography package will include whatever you like.

We do not want a full day coverage, are you able to allow for this in the package we book?

Yes and as always your photography package will include whatever you like.

Leaving the coverage aside are you able to tailor packages to suit our needs?

Yes, just let us know what you are looking for and that is exactly what we will do.

How long after our wedding do we get our photos?

Unless special requests are made the turnaround time on your fully perfected and genuine high resolution JPEGs provided on USB is four weeks.

How long does it take to get an album made?

Once an album design is sent into production five to six-weeks depending upon the style of album you have chosen.

How long does it take to get our framing?

Once a frame design has been approved turnaround times will be approximately three weeks (subject to availability which you will be advised of at the time).

How do we book?

Simply complete the booking form and pay the deposit and we can take care of the rest.

Should we provide you with a meal during the reception?

If we are covering more than an hour of your reception then in the interest of not passing out a meal would be appreciated.

What kind of camera do you use?

These days Nikon & Sony D-SLR

What sort of lighting do you use?

In short, natural light or the imitation of natural light wherever possible. We use off camera flash and LED panels regularly and we also have a full studio lighting set-up that is completely mobile, i.e., we can bring the studio to you.

What software do you use primarily?

Adobe, i.e., Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere, Illustrator and InDesign
