Vintage Portraits Tag

Meet Ethan everyone (via this little vintage retouch/feature). It was Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park portraits time. This is the second time I have photographed this little man, the fourth time I have photographed his brother (Lachlan) and the sixth time I have photographed their Mum & Dad, Peter & Amy. And that is super-bloody-cool, I love it. I mean. You spend...

(Poor Audrey loved the first couple of ‘daddy throws’, we promise!)

Just a quick little feature of two classic family portrait sessions this week, one at Lisgar Gardens in Hornsby and one at a private residence in Kellyville.

Essentially I have taken the same approach to both shoots (ie: loads of cuddles for mum & dad and simply mucking around capturing the family doing what they do naturally) and we have gone a little vintage-ee in the retouching (ie: washed colours and tones, rough borders as well as some added textures and light flare). All in all I have had fun, I know Julia, Jono, David, Pinar, James, Ezra, Audrey & Theo did and I love the reality of what I have snapped and how it engages the children as well as the parents – not to mention in twenty-years (plus) time I’ve always thought that looking back at images that have genuinely captured reality (ie: as it is/was) will add so much more value to what we have done together.
